on locs...
having been raised in jamaica — the island of bob marley and rastafarianism — i've seen my fair share of locs. alot of the loc-ed women i saw growing up had naturally wavy/spirally/curly natural textures, and opted to loc it. i'm glad i witnessed that, because it communicated to me that locs were feminine and a repudiation of white standards of beauty. but as i got older, i started meeting black
