***Update 7/13/2009... Two individuals quoted in this article have written letters of protest about the way their comments were construed. Instead of posting the letters here, I am going to provide a link. I read through the letters and did not feel that they took anything away from the main point of the article; that there exists in the Dominican Republic a resistance to being termed African or
